The Purple Jacket Honor Society is a women's honor society that serves as the official hostess group for Northwestern State University. The organization also places a strong emphasis on community service.

The Purple Jacket Club founded in 1927 by President V.L. Roy, was the first honor club established at Northwestern State University. Adorned in purple and white, colors depicting loyalty, the Purple Jackets have served willingly and tirelessly as the offical hostess of the University, continuing an ageless tradition. The club is limited to thirty-one active members. Each spring at the Purple Jacket calling, women students, who have demonstrated good scholarship, good character, and a spirit of cooperation and unselfishness in serving Northwestern, are chosen as new members.
